1. Reason for Policy

The Junior Scholarship Program provides two scholarships to student golfers entering or continuing a full-time course of study at a Canadian secondary or any post-secondary educational institution.

2. Policy Statement

One scholarship will be awarded to a junior male and the other to a junior female from year to year, based upon the funds available for distribution. Scholarships will be awarded to individuals who have participated in the Newfoundland Labrador golf community and who have demonstrated scholastic excellence.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the individual’s parent/guardian.

3. Scope

This policy applies to student golfers entering or continuing a full-time course of study at a Canadian secondary or any post-secondary educational institution.

4. Forms

Scholarship Application

PLEASE COMPLETE BY SEPTEMBER 30TH

Your application must include the following:

  • Verification of membership at a Golf Newfoundland Labrador Member Golf Club (copy of Golf Canada membership card).
  • Transcript of marks for two most recently completed years.
  • Outline of recent (including competitive) golf experience (past 3 years).
  • Letter from the applicant outlining goals and career objectives 
  • (Must be typed, maximum 300 words).
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation.
  • High quality color photograph (digital copy no photocopies) (head and shoulders only) 

It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to submit all required information on or before September 30th.

INCOMPLETE OR LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

    Please indicate your (present/proposed) program of post-secondary studies:

    You must register as a full-time student as defined by the institution you will be attending for the forthcoming academic year in order to be eligible for a scholarship. APPLICANTS ATTENDING A POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTION OUTSIDE OF CANADA ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A SCHOLARSHIP.

    Academic Standing

    Please provide a copy of your latest transcript of marks. Please provide a letter (typed maximum 300 words) outlining your goals and career objectives.

    Contribution To The Community

    Applications will be reviewed and assessed by Golf NL’s Junior Committee and the nominations forwarded to the Hall of Fame & awards Committee for final review and recommendations to the Board of Directors for formal approval.

I certify that the information given in this application is true and complete. Golf Newfoundland Labrador is hereby authorized to verify the information contained herein with those concerned and the educational institutions and other sources identified in this application and I agree to notify Golf Newfoundland Labrador of any changes to the information contained in this application. If I receive a scholarship, I agree to allow my name, photograph, study plans, golf and other accomplishments to appear publicly as deemed appropriate by the Fund.

    Please Note: This Application and all accompanying information and materials become the property of Golf Newfoundland Labrador and will not be returned to the applicant. Please keep a copy for your records.
