Under humid overcast and windy conditions, the third stop on the Tely Junior Tour’s West Coast Swing took place at Humber River Golf Club in Deer Lake on Thursday, July 21st.
In the Boys’ Bantam Division, Jaden Reid of Grand Falls Golf Club captured his first title of the season, recording a 42 and a 5-stroke win over Humber River’s Mason Gale. Fellow club member Griffin Abbott carded a 50, taking third place. Sarah Peyton of Humber River Golf Club carded a 70, securing the top spot in the Bantam Girls’ Division.
Karsen Best of Bally Haly Country Club captured his third consecutive title with a score of 84 over Philip Snow of Amaruk Golf Club, who carded an 86 and took second place. Jacob Hatcher of Harmon Seaside Links placed third in the division with a total of 97.
In the Juvenile Boys’ Division, Daniel Sharpe of Blomidon Golf Club won his third consecutive divisional crown, recording a 91 and a 9-stroke win over second place’s Keegan Pender of Pippy Park Golf Course. Sam Boone of Grand Falls Golf Club placed third with a score of 106.
Paige Allen captured her third consecutive Junior Girls’ Division crown of 2022 with a score of 92 and an 11-stroke victory over her sister, Rosie Allen, who took second. Brooklyn Stride placed third with a score of 114. All three girls are members of Blomidon Golf Club in Corner Brook.
At the closing awards luncheon, Golf NL thanked the host course, staff and management, the volunteers, referees Paul and Joan Comeau, title sponsor The Telegram, and contributing partners RMS, Browning Harvey, and Taylormade.
