The North American Indigenous Games ( NAIG) were first held in 1990 in Edmonton, AB.
The games are a multi-sport event involving indigenous North American althletes and have been staged intermittently since its inception in 1990.The games are governed by the North American Indigenous Games Council,a 26-member council of representatives from 13 provinces and territories in Canada and 13 regions in the US.
This years event is being hosted in Halifax NS July 15-23rd and will have althletes competing in 16 different sports including three traditional indigenous sports. Golf NL is proud to have three of our Junior Development Team members participating at the games.
Representing NL in Golf is 15 year old Lucan Meade from Bally Haly Country Club competing in golf under 16 division , 17 year old Philip Snow from Glendenning Golf Course in the under 19 division and 15 year old Brooklyn Stride from Blomidon Golf Club in Corner Brook in the Girls division. These talented young althletes are members of Golf NL’s Provincial Development Team and are also training on the High Performance Team for Canada Games 2025.
Golf NL is proud to see these young althletes participating in the NAIG and know this will be an invaluable life experience as well as a great event in their golf training .
