Terra Nova Hosts Final Tely Tour Event of 2021

Port Blandford, NL…The final events of the 2021 Tely Junior Tour were held at Terra Nova Resort & Golf Community this past weekend. Activities included the Skills Challenge, Terra Nova Junior Invitational, and the presentation of the annual awards.

The Junior Skills Challenge focuses on developing the key golf skills of putting, chipping, and driving. The objective of the program is to develop key golf skills while serving as an important introduction to competition. The Skills Challenge took place on Saturday, August 28th with 33 competitors from across the province competing in six age divisions.

In the Boys 15 to 18 Division, Caleb Reid of Grand Falls Golf Club recorded a205 to take the Division with Sam Fisher of Clovelly capturing the Boys 2 to 14 division with a total of 255. Owen Dunford of Bally Haly Country Club recorded 185 points to win the Boys 9 to 11 Division.

Paige Allen of Blomidon Golf Club recorded 175 points to secure the 15 to 18 Girls Division title with Sanjana Gullipalli of Clovelly won the Girls 12 to 14 Division recording a score of 210. Mila Snook recorded a 230 to win the Girls 9 to11 Division.

With clear skies, superb course conditions, but strong wind, the final event of the 2021 Tely Junior Tour was held at Terra Nova on the Twin Rivers Championship course on Sunday, August 29th.

Ryan Holwell of Bally Haly Country Club recorded an unprecedented 8th Junior Boys Division title recording a 4 over par 75 while Karsen Best of Bally Haly, Caleb Reid of Grand Falls, and John Park of Terra Nova carding identical scores of 88 to T2. Through the retrogression process, Reid placed second with Park took third.

Paige Allen of Blomidon Golf Club won her 6th event of the season carding a 104 to secure the Junior Division title while fellow club member Brooklyn Stride finished in second with a score of 116.

Phillip Snow of Amaruk Golf Club participated in his first Tely Tour event and had an impressive showing carding an 82 to capture the final Juvenile Boys Division crown of the regular season. Noah Belliveau of Harmon Seaside Links and Sam Fisher of Clovely T2 with a score of 91 with Belliveau taking second place through the use of retrogression.

In the Bantam Boys Division, Griffin Gallant of Bally Haly Country Club recorded a 45 to win the division title with a 4-stroke win over Owen Dunford of Bally Haly and Keegan Pender of Glendenning T2. Dunford claimed second place using the retrogression process.

In the Bantam Girls Division, Sanjana Gullipalli of Clovelly carded a 38 to win the division with Mila Snook of Bally Haly Country Club recording a 44 for second and Kali Gill of Blomidon Golf Club carded a 48 to place third.
