Stephenville, NL….The Tely Junior Tour kicked off the 2021 season with the Harmon Seaside Links Junior Invitational as part of the West Coast Swing. Paige Allen, of Blomidon Golf Club won the initial competition in the Girls Junior Division carding a 88 while Brooklyn Stride also of Blomidon and Genevieve Cieto of Humber River Golf Club tied for second with a 106.
Karsen Best of Bally Haly Country Club recorded his first victory in the Junior Boys Divisiin carding an 85 and a 3 stroke win over Jacob Hatcher of Humber River Golf Club, fellow club member Evan Dicks carded at 89 to take third place.
In the Boys Juvenile Division, Evan Snow of Gander Golf Club captured the title with a score of 84 and 2 stroke s ahead of Daniel Sharpe of Blomidon. Lucan Meade of Clovelly placed third with a score of 89.
Griffin Abbott of Blomidon Golf Club recorded a 48 to take top spot in the Bantam Boys Division with a 5 stroke win over fellow club member Jonah Sharpe while Mason Gale of Humber River Golf Club finished third with a score of 64.
In the Bantam Girls Division, Mila Snook carded a 37 in the 9 hole competition to take top spot and a 3 stroke win over 2021 Provincial Junior Champion, Freya Snook, both girls play out of Bally Haly Country Club. Rosie Allen secured third place recording a 44.
Since its inception in 2006, The Tely Junior Golf Tour, sponsored by The Telegram and Golf Newfoundland Labrador (Golf NL), has been a volunteer, non-profit initiative in support of junior golf. The Tour was created to provide a introductory competitive pathway and rules education opportunity for young golfers wishing to transition from recreation to competitive golf.
