Gander Golf Club provided a very scenic background for hosting the Gander Junior Open on Tuesday, July 26th as part of the 2022 Tely Junior Tour. Humber River Golf Club member Sarah Peyton carded a 62 to win the Bantam Division title, while Jaden Reid won his second Bantam Boys’ crown of the season with a score of 45.
While Reid captured the Boys’ Bantam crown, newcomers Henry Randell and Andrew Simms of Gander Golf Club claimed second and third place respectively. Randell carded a 55, and Simms a 56.
Adam Byrne of Gander Golf Club took advantage of his home course and captured the Boys’ Juvenile Division title as a newcomer, recording an 89 and a 5-stroke victory over fellow Gander Golf Club members Logan Kelly and Keegan Pender of Pippy Park, both of which recorded a score of 94. Pender took second place through the retrogression process.
John Park of Brookside captured his first Junior Boys’ Divisional title of the year, recording a score of 77 and a 4-stroke victory over Caleb Reid of Grand Falls Golf Club. Evan Snow of Gander Golf Club carded an 84 to secure third place.
At the closing awards luncheon, Golf NL thanked the host course, staff and management, the volunteers, title sponsor The Telegram, and contributing partners RMS, Browning Harvey, and Taylormade.
