Peyton and Pender Take Triple Crowns at Tely Tour West Coast Swing

Deer Lake, NL. The day at Humber River Golf Club began with heavy rain showers prompting the tournament committee to call 2 nine hole stipulated rounds. Upon checking course conditions it was decided that hole #1 was unplayable due to excessive water build-up and that two 8-hole stipulated rounds would be played starting on hole # 2. The Tely Junior Tour event was the third and final stop on the West Coast Swing.

In the Bantam Divisions, Sarah Peyton of Humber River Golf Club carded a 46 to round out her triple crown win in the Girls’ title with newcomer Reese Coles also playing at her home course nabbed second place with a 59 for a one-stroke lead over third place Adelyn Kelly from Blomidon Golf Club.

Griffin Abbott playing at his home course won his second title in the Boys Division as he battled it out against Logan Skinner from Blomidon Golf Club recording a 37 giving him a 3-stroke win over Logan who carded a 40. Jake Stokes of Harmon came back to the podium nabbing another third-place finish with a score of 43.

In The Boy’s Juvenile Division Keegan Pender of Pippy Park Golf Course secure his third consecutive victory to take the triple crown on the west coast swing. Drew Park of Humber River secured second place on his home course after two third-place finishes at Harmon and Blomidon. Kethan Hooper of Glendenning Golf made his way back into the standings carding an 85 to take third place.

In the Boy’s Junior Division, Daniel Sharpe of Blomidon Golf Club carded a 64 to take another first-place win over Philip Snow of Glendenning who carded a 74 to secure second. Noah Belliveau of Harmon Seaside Links took third place with a score of 99.

Paige Allen captured her second title in three events in The Girl’s Junior Division with 77, and a three stroke lead over sister Rosie Allen who carded an 80. Brooklyn Stride made her way into the standings today with a third-place finish with a score of 88. All three girls are members of Blomidon Golf Club in Corner Brook.

At the closing awards luncheon, Golf NL thanked the host course, staff and management, the volunteers, referees Paul Comeau and Joan Vautier title sponsor The Telegram, and contributing partners, RMS, Browning Harvey, and Taylormade
