Labrador City, NL….Janet Mills recorded a two day total of 164 and Mike Brown had a two day total of 152 to capture their respective Super Senior Division at the 2023 Royal LePage Provincial Amateur Championships. This was the second consecutive Super Senior title for Mills while Brown captured the crown for his first provincial championship.
As part of the presentation of the awards, Inez Thorne was presented with the scorecard and prize for acheiving a Hole In One on the first day of competition. Dennis Langdon of Tamarack Golf Club was presented with a token opf appreciation for the club’s hosting of the 2023 Royal LePage Provincial Amateur Championships.
In the Women’s Amateur and Mid-Amateur Divisions Kanani Davis of Amaruk Golf Club carded a second round 93 to extend her lead over Marie Soliel-Penashue by 22 stroke with Robyn Edwards of Tamarack maintaining her third place position recording a two day total of 223.
Janet Mills carded a 6 over par 78 to move into first place in the Ladies Senior Division and an 8 strokes ahead of day one leader Inez Thorne of Tamarack Golf Club. Debbie Hawes of Tamarack retained her third place position in the Senior Division recording a two day total of 182.
Teren Newell of River Hills Golf Club moved into sole possession of first place in the Men’s Amateur Division carding an even par 72 for a two day total of 144 and a 1 stroke lead of day 1 co-leader Michael Jones of Tamarack Golf Club. Ryan Holwell of Bally Haly Country Club recorded 4 birdies on Saturday and is locked in a three way tie for third with Ryan MacNeil-Lamswood of Harmon Seaside Links and Mitch Normore of Tamarack.
Jones extended his lead the Mens Mid Amateur Division carding a 1 over par 73 and a 4 strokes lead over follow club member Mitch Normore who has a two day total of 149. Paul Hulan of Harmon Seaside Links and with Nikashantess Penashue of Amaruk Golf Club are T3third place with a score of 152.
In the Senior Men’s Division, newly declared Super Senior Champion Mike Brown moved up from third, carding a second day 74 to take the lead while Eric Penney from Tangle Creek moved into second with a two day total of 155 and a 1 stroke ahead of of Day 1 leader Nolan Norman.
The final round is scheduled to begin at 9:00 A.M. Sunday starting with the Ladies Divisions, followed by the Men’s Senior, Mid-Amateur and Amateur Division. The Players dinner and awards presentations are scheduled for 7:00 P.M. at the Clubhouse.
