Gullipalli Takes 7th Place at Nextgen Atlantics

Ten junior golfers from Newfoundland and Labrador made their way to the beautiful Avondale Golf Course in Vernon River, PEI  from July 18th to 20th to to compete in the Next Gen Atlantic Championships which is the sixth stop on the Next Gen Championship Series.

In the Junior Girls’ Division Sanjana Gullipalli of Bally Haly Golf & Country Club placed 7th out of a field of 21 girls to lead the NL contingent with 2023 Royal LePage Provincial Junior Champion Mila Snook placing 10th. Other members included Mila’s twin sister Freya and  Paige and Rosie Allen, another sister duo also competed and are members of Blomidon Golf Club in Corner Brook.

In the Junior Boys’ division the province was represented with five players who competed in the 54 hole event with a field of 54 players. Sam Fisher finished in 27th positiin and was the top NL  player in the competition. Other members from NL included Karsen Best from Bally Haly Golf and Country Club , Daniel Sharpe from Blomidon Golf Club in Corner Brook, Declan Flynn from Glendenning Golf Course and James Mitchell from Grande Meadows in Frenchman’s Cove.

All of the players are members of Golf NL’s  Junior Development Team and many of them are part of the Canada Games High Performance Team training for the 2025 Canada Games to be held in St. John’s.

A number of these players will be continuing on to Nationals with The Canadian Junior Girls Championship at Hampton Golf Course in New Brunswick and The Canadian Junior Boys in North Bay Ontario at The North Bay Golf and Country Club.

The Next Gen Championships is a high performance junior golf series with eight competitions. From May to July 2023, six championships take place across Canada where the region’s best junior golfers compete to earn exemptions into their respective national championships. Two additional Fall series events are hosted to close the season.

NextGen Championships provide junior players an opportunity to develop and showcase their skills at the highest level of tournament golf.
