Grand Falls Tely Tour Open starts with threat of thundershowers


Grand Falls-Windsor, NL….The start of the central leg of the Tely Tour began as skies were clearing following  downpours overnight. Under threat of afternoon thundershowers it was decided to play two nine hole stipulated rounds to ensure it constituted a full round.

Junior Boys Division were first off the tee this morning .Finishing in first place overall  was John Park with a 6 over par 77. Karsen Best of Bally Haly Golf and Country Club, who just landed from playing NextGen Atlantics ,took second place carding a score of 80 .Third place went to Adam Currie of Terra Nova Golf Course with a score of 81 .

It was a tight race in the Juvenile Boys Division .In the lead and taking first place was Declan Flynn from Glendenning Golf with a score of 85.Only two strokes behind in second place was Keegan Pender of Pippy Park Golf Club and with only one stroke of separation was Kaiden Hiller who played at  his home course and carded an 88.

Junior Girls saw Sarah Hayes of Humber River take first place honours .She  was the lone competitor in her division . Reese Coles was the only competitor and took first place for Bantam Girls .

Bantam Boys division was led today by Logan Skinner of Blomidon Golf Club with an impressive nine hole score of 36 ,securing first place . Second place went to Griffin Abbott from Humber River Golf Club who wasn’t far behind with a 38 on the card.Third place went to Andrew Simms of Gander Golf Club with a score of 51 .
