Gander NL….Under blue skies and a slight breeze, play began for the sixteen competitors from across the island on the fifth stop of the Tely Junior Golf Tour supported by SaltWire, the Gander Tely Junior Invitational.. Their were competitors in four of the five divisions including Junior, Juvenile and Bantam Boys and one competitor in the Junior Girls division.
In the Junior Division first place went to Adam Currie from Terra Nova Golf Course who carded an 84 .In second place was Zachary King of Grand Falls Golf Club with a score of 98 .Logan Kelly playing at his home course Gander Golf Club took third place with a score of 101 on the card. In Junior Girls Division, Sarah Hayes of Blomidon Golf Club took first place.
Juvenile Boys was lead by Keegan Pender of Pippy Park Club who carded an 81 to secure first place.
Following in second place was Declan Flynn of Glendenning Golf with a score of 82 .In third place with an 88 was Adam Simms of Gander Golf Club.
In the Bantam Boys Division, all four competitors had participated in the previous day’s event at Grand Falls Golf Club with a slightly different outcome. There was a shuffle at the top as Griffin Abbott of Humber River Golf Club took first place in The Gander Junior Invitational with a 3 over par front nine score of 39, while Logan Skinner from Blomidon Golf Course carded a 46 to secure second place. Third place went to Andrew Simms of Gander Golf Club for the second consecutive competition carding a 47, a 4 stroke improvement over yesterdays score in Grand Falls.
