Deer Lake, NL—Under cloudy conditions with intermittent showers, players were faced with wet by good course conditions for the opening round of competition at the 2021 Royal LePage Provincial Junior Championships on the Humber River Golf Course in Deer Lake.
In the Junior Boys Division, Ethan Efford of Bally Haly Country Club carded a 4 over par 76 to hold a 6-stroke lead over fellow club member Ryan Holwell. Jacob Hatcher of Harmon Seaside Links in Stephenville rounds out the top three in the division with a score of 109.
In the Boys Juvenile Division, Karsen Best of Bally Haly carded an 88 and holds a 2-stroke lead over Grand Falls Golf Club member Jack MacHardy, while Evan Snow of Gander Golf Club posted a score of 105 and good for third place heading into day two of competition.
Lucan Meade of Clovelly recorded a score of 88 to lead the Bantam Boys division by a 5-stroke lead over Owen Dunford of Bally Haly and Sam Fisher with an identical score of 93. In the Girls Division, Freya Snook carded a 79 to hold a 3-stroke lead over her sister, Mila Snook with both girls’ members of Bally Haly Country Club. Sanjana Gullipalli of Clovelly sits in third place with a score of 85 and just 6 strokes off the pace.
