Ethan Efford of Bally Haly Country Club led wire to wire to capture the 2022 Royal LePage Provincial Junior Boys’ Championship for the second consecutive year and the right to lead Team NL into the Atlantic and National Championships. Sam Fisher of Bally Haly Country Club captured his second provincial crown in style by leading the field in the Juvenile Division from wire to wire and finishing with a three-day total of 283.
Efford captured his second junior title, recording a three-day total of 224 and a 13-stroke margin over fellow club mate Ryan Holwell, who carded a final day 80 for a total of 237. Sam Fisher of Bally Haly rounded out the top three, carding a final day 81. Karsen Best finished in fourth place and the earned opportunity to represent the province at the national championships.
In the overall Girls’ Division, Mila Snook carded a final round 90 for a three-day total of 248 to capture her first provincial title in her very young golf career. Defending 2021 Junior Champion Freya Snook carded a final round 91 to secure second place, while Sanjana Gullipalli placed third with a three-day total of 262. All three players are members of Bally Haly Country Club.
Gullipalli was named the winner of the 2022 Marcheta Gallant Trophy for the Most Improved Female from the previous year’s competition. Sanjana improved her score by 11 strokes from the 2021 championships. Mila Snook also won the Bantam Girls’ Division with Freya Snook coming in second place, followed by Rosie Allen of Blomidon Golf Club.
In the Boys’ Juvenile Division, Sam Fisher recorded a final round 81 for a three-day total of 259, capturing the championship over second place contestant Daniel Sharpe of Blomidon Golf Club by eighteen strokes. Adam Currie of Terra Nova Resort secured third place with a three-day total of 279. In the Bantam Division, Lucan Meade of Bally Haly captured the title with a 6-stroke win over Griffin Gallant, who recorded a three-day total of 289 and took second place. Keegan Pender of Pippy Park Golf Course placed third.
In the coming weeks, members of the Provincial Junior Boys’ and Girls’ Teams are scheduled to compete at the Next Gen Atlantic Championships at the Antigonish Golf 7 Country Club in Nova Scotia from July 11th to 14th.
