Boland & Mills Win Titles at 2022 Royal LePage Provincial Championships

Don Boland and Janet Mills of Bally Haly Country Club captured their respective Super Senior Division titles at the 2022 Royal LePage Provincial Amateur Championships. This was the first Super Senior win for Mills, while Boland has won the competition on three other occasions. Boland captured the crown with a two-day total of 155, while Mills recorded a 172 over the two-day competition.

In the Ladies’ Amateur Division, Kathleen Jean of Harmon Seaside Links recorded a second round 83, moving up three positions to share the lead with Allison Crawford of Bally Haly Country Club, who carded a two-day total of 169 and is 1 stroke ahead of co-leaders Janet Mills of Bally Haly and Taylor Cormier of Blomidon Golf Club after the first day.

In the Ladies’ Mid-Amateur Division, Mills fell to third place while Jean and Crawford moved up to tie for first with identical records of 169 heading into the final day of competition. In the Senior Ladies’ Division, defending champion Kathleen Jean holds a 3-stroke lead over Janet Mills, with Donna Manning of Glendenning Golf holding down third place with a total score of 175.

Mike Furlong of Bally Haly Country Club continues to set the pace in the Amateur and Mid-Amateur Mens’ Divisions. In the Mid-Amateur he recorded a second round 74 and a two-day total of 141, leading by 7 strokes over Keith Dawe who moved up two placings. Jaron Flynn and Adam Stanley are tied for third with a two-day total of 150 and 9 strokes off the pace. All these players are members of Bally Haly Country Club.

In the Amateur Division, Furlong has extended his lead to 5 strokes over Ryan MacNeil Lamswood of Harmon Seaside Links. Lamswood recorded a second round 78 to remain in second place, just 2 strokes ahead of Keith Dawe of Bally Haly Country Club.

In the Senior Mens’ Division, Gary Walsh of Bally Haly recorded a 76 to expand his lead in the division by 3 strokes over Paul Rose, and 4 strokes ahead of newly crowned Super Senior Champion Don Boland.

The final round is scheduled to begin at 7:30 A.M. starting with the Ladies’, followed by the Mens’ Senior, Mid-Amateur, and Amateur Divisions. Presentations are planned to take place in the Haly Room at 2:00 P.M. for the ladies and 7:30 P.M. for the men.
