Under exceptionally fine weather conditions, the initial event of the 2022 Tely Tour kicked off at Harmon Seaside Links in Stephenville. Honorary starter for the competition was former President of Golf NL, Marcheta Gallant, who was also on hand to present the awards at the closing ceremonies.
Karsen Best of Bally Haly Country Club recorded a score of 88 and a 4-stroke victory over Harmon Seaside Links member Noah Belliveau in the Boys’ Junior Division, while fellow club member Jacob Hatcher carded a 103 for third place. In the Boys’ Juvenile Division, Daniel Sharpe of Blomidon Golf Club carded a 97 to claim the title, with Drew Park of Humber River Golf Club recording a 117 to secure second place.
Griffin Abbott of Humber River Golf Club defeated his 2021 Harmon Bantam Division title, recording a 41 with a 1-stroke win over Noah Beliveau of Harmon Seaside Links. Sam Bugden of Blomidon Golf Club finished in third with a score of 47.
In the Girls’ divisions, 2021 Tely Tour Junior Girl Champion, Paige Allen from Blomidon Golf Club, finished with a score of 86 and earned the top position while Rosie Allen of Blomidon Golf Club placed second with a score of 96. Sarah Petyon of Humber River Golf Club won the Bantam Girls’ Division, recording a 70.
At the awards presentation and closing luncheon, Golf NL thanked the host course, staff and management, their volunteers, title sponsor The Telegram, and contributing partners, RMS, Browning Harvey and Taylormade.
