Meade & Fisher Capture Consecutive Divisional Titles at Future Shooters Showdown at The Wilds

Salmonier, NL….Under overcast skies, a steady wind with mild temperature and superb course conditions, the 2023 Tely Junior Tour hosted the eighth event of the season at the Future Shooters Showdown at The Wilds in Salmonier. Lucan Meade of Bally Haly carded at 83 to win his second consecutive Juvenile Boys Division title by 2 strokes over Keegan Pender of Pippy Park Golf Course while Spencer Whitten of Glendenning Golf rounded out the top three with a score of 89 to take third.

Sam Fisher of Bally Haly recorded a 7 over par 78 and the low round of the day to capture his second consecutive Junior Division title with fellow club member Karsen Best securing second position carding an 83 and 1 stroke ahead of third place finisher Philip Snow of The Wilds.

The Junior Girls division, for the second consecutive event the retrogression method was used to break a tie. This time Freya Snook and Sanjana Gullipalli tied for first with an identical score of 80. Through the tie-breaking process, Freya Snook was declared the divisional champion. Despite recording two eagles, Mila Snook carded an 81 to take third place. All three players are members of Bally Haly Country Club.

Liam Costello of Bally Haly recorded a 42 and a 1 stroke victory over William Hickey to capture his first ever Tely Junior Tour crown in the Bantam Boys Division. Josh House, also of Bally Haly recorded a 45 to place third in the division.

In the Bantam Girls, Sarah Peyton of Humber River Golf Club carded a 58 to claim first place.

At the closing awards luncheon, Golf NL thanked the host course, staff and management, the volunteers, title sponsor The Telegram and contributing partners, RMS, Browning Harvey and Taylormade for their support of junior golf and the Tely Junior Tour.

The last regular season competition on the 2023 Tely Junior Tour is scheduled for Pippy Park on Thursday August 10th. The Tour Championship will be held at Humber Valley Resort on the weekend of August 26th & 27th. For more results and information on the Tely Tour visit www.golfnl.ca/events
