Twin Rivers, Terra Nova Golf Resort

  1. Who do you regularly play golf with?

We have a group of 8-10 players we play with most evenings. My two brothers (Ryan & Chris), Kev Janes, John Squire, Johnny Hybrid, Dean Parsons, Trent Perry, Glen Greening and on Thursday nights for Men’s Night I play with my Dad (Ron).

  1. What’s your favorite course that you have played?

Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia or TPC Sawgrass in Pointe Vedra Beach, Florida.

  1. Where and when did you start golfing?

A few of us got memberships at Eagle Creek at Terra Nova Golf Resort when I was 19.

  1. Can you (briefly) tell us your most memorable golf experience.

My two brothers and I  drove to NS in 2017 to play Cabot Cliffs & Cabot Links. A golf trip with your brothers at two of the top courses around… Can’t get much better then that.

  1. Can you (briefly) tell us your funniest golf experience.

My friend and I went to play a round when I first started playing. He didn’t have any clubs so I gave him my brothers new clubs with the plan of putting them back before he knew about it. It started raining heavily but we continued to play anyways. He went to tee off on a par 3 and when he swung, the club slipped out of his hands and got caught up in a power line.

  1. What is your greatest golf accomplishment?

Playing in the Canadian Men’s Amateur in 2016 at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club in Ottawa, ON.

  1. What is your best/worst quality on the golf course?

As I got older my best quality would be what we call playing Neil Norcott golf. That is getting up and down from anywhere to make a par and keep your round alive.

My worst quality is changing my playing style when playing in tournaments and being afraid to go after it.

  1. What 3 people(golfers) would you like to join you at a dream Round?

Mike Weir, Tiger Woods & KJ Choi

  1. Have you ever had a hole-in-one? When and where?

I have had two hole-in-ones, one at Gander Golf Club on Hole #13 and the other at Twin Rivers Hole #11.

  1. What is your best score ever? At what course?

My best score every was a 67 on Twin Rivers.

  1. What is your favorite/least favorite golfing hole on a Newfoundland & Labrador golf course?

My favorite hole is # 12 at Humber Valley in the Fall of the year.

My least Favorite is # 17 at Twin Rivers just because if has ruined so many good rounds throughout the years.

  1. What do you think is the worst rule in golf and how would you change it?

Having to hit out of a divot even if you’re in the fairway. For top Pro leagues, it’s getting DQ’d for signing wrong scorecard. Every shot is tracked so why are they taking their own scores anyways.

  1. What advice would you give to a young golfer starting to play golf today?

Play lots, play fast and play for fun!
