Humber River Golf Club is Celebrating Their 25th Anniversary
In the early 1990s, golf enthusiasts from the Deer Lake area came together to discuss the concept of forming a local golf association and the development of a golf course. With the increase in golf participation during this time it was felt that having a golf facility in the area would be advantageous on many fronts.
Thus, the Humber River Golf Club was formed with the sole intent of developing a golf facility. Through the efforts of many volunteers a 9-hole, par 36 golf course was created in Deer Lake adjacent to the Deer Lake Airport and supported by the local Rod & Gun Club.
Today, Humber River Golf Club has a full-sized driving range, putting green, and motorized power carts available for rent. With its narrow fairways and well-manicured greens, Humber Rive offers one of the finest golf challenges on the West Coast.
To celebrate this milestone, the volunteer management of the course have offered a number of promotions including the Father’s Day Special, a 2 for 1 pass for adult and child, and the Opening Scramble which included many prize draws.
This past weekend Golf NL in partnership with Golf Canada made a presentation to acknowledge this occasion. The club was presented with a 25th anniversary plaque. The plaque was present by Golf NL Board member Jim Sloan, to the President of Humber River Golf Club, Derrick Wagg and Vice President, Gordon Cross.
