Kathleen Jean was born in Quebec and moved to Stephenville, NL with her family at the age of 8. When she was 10 her neighbor, Theresa Ryan, brought her to the golf course to try out the game. Although she really didn’t like the game at first she kept going and by the age of 12 played in her first provincial junior championship in the 9-hole division.
At 13 she started to play in the 18-hole division and the following year made the provincial team to represented NL at Nationals. And that was the start of a very impressive golf career.
Over the years Kathleen has won 17 provincial titles:
Along with her provincial titles she represented NL over 30 times:
1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007
In 1991 she was successful in making the cut at the Canadian Amateur Championships. And in 1993 was runner-up in the Nova Scotia Amateur. Twice she was part of the provincial team who won the National “Team” Low Net Title: 1979 for Junior and 1991 for Amateur.
