Hall of Fame

Golf NL maintains a Provincial Golf Hall of Fame honour the players, pioneers, and industry leaders who have made contributions to the practice and development of golf in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The accomplishments of the individual must have a direct benefit to the province,
whether by encouraging growth of the sport or by importing or exporting ideas, talent, techniques, or products that have led to advancements of the sport in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Athlete

To qualify the nominee must have an outstanding record of accomplishment at provincial, regional (Atlantic), national and/or international levels of competition.

Builder

A nominee should have significantly contributed to organizing, promoting, or developing NL’s golf industry. Typically, this requires long-term involvement, but exceptional single actions that permanently transform the industry may also qualify.

Contributor (Volunteer)

A nominee must have made long term contributions in areas of organization, promotion, or development of the golf industry in their community on a volunteer basis with no remuneration or compensation for their services. Normally, a long period of service is necessary for an individual to be recognized as a contributor.

Contributor (Employee)

A nominee must have made major contributions in areas of organization, promotion, or development of the golf industry in their community or region. Normally a long period of service is necessary for an individual to be recognized as a contributor. The nominee must be retired from the golf industry to be considered for nomination.

Lifetime Achievement

A nominee must have provided inspiration in sport, which has led to an enhancement of the knowledge, pleasure, or pursuit of golf in this province. This category will include any individual who has performed a long service to the golfing community in any capacity.

Nomination Process

Nominations for the Hall of Fame will remain open and be accepted on an ongoing basis. All submissions will be retained for two award cycles, meaning unsuccessful nominees will be automatically considered again in the next Hall of Fame and/or Awards review. The Hall of Fame and Awards Committee will provide feedback and guidance to the nominator regarding the nomination package, offering the opportunity to update the content.

An individual may be nominated for the Hall of Fame upon completion of their amateur career or at age 40, whichever occurs first. The intention of the Hall of Fame is to recognize deserving individuals promptly. To nominate an individual to the Newfoundland Labrador Golf Hall of Fame, an individual must complete the nomination form.

The nomination package must be submitted electronically in Word Format. Please note the nominator must not be the nominee.

Upon receipt of the nomination package, the Hall of Fame Committee of Golf NL will assess the application for eligibility based on the established guidelines. If a nominee is deemed ineligible, the nominator will be informed of the reasons for ineligibility.
