2019 Golf Course of the Year – Blomidon Golf Club

Golf NL is pleased to acknowledge Blomidon Golf Club, the 2019 Golf Course of the Year.

2019 was a transitional year for Blomidon Golf Club that saw a number of major changes including the relocation of the Pro Shop, the appointment and loss of the General manager, and changes in a number of operational areas. Despite these changes, the club had a productive year.

Known for its friendly, inviting atmosphere with a strong membership base, Blomidon Golf Club continues to be the hub of summer activity in the Corner Brook region, opening on May 29th.

In 2019 Blomidon Golf Club operated the Future Links and Junior Golf programs that included Girls Golf, one of the only junior girls’ programs in the province. With well over 100 participants, the junior program has grown and developed thanks in large to PGA and 2019 Junior Leader of the Year Wayne Allen.

Again this year, junior layers competed in the Future Links Skills |Challenge with a number of players qualifying for the national championship held at the CP Women’s Open. At that event, Gabriel Bugden, a junior golfer went on to win the Golf Canada National Future Link Skills Challenge 12-14 age group

Throughout the season Blomidon Golf Club hosted 12 Tournaments this year.  The highlight of the season was the hosting of the 2019 Royal LePage Provincial Amateur Men’s Championship. At this event, well over 60 members of the club volunteered their time, energy, and experience to assist in the smooth operation of another great championship.
